The Last Five Years, a musical involving only two actors, is being performed in the blackbox theatre (Rm. 101) on Friday, September 6th at 7 PM and Saturday, September 7th at 2:30 PM. The director of this show, Wisdom Murray, a senior musical theatre major, chose this one hour piece as his senior showcase.
The Last Five Years goes through a couple’s five years together from beginning to end- the times they shared, their wedding, and their divorce. Cathy Hiatt, the female lead, played by Sophia Laia, a junior musical theatre major with a strong, soprano voice and incredible acting ability. Joshua O’Berry, also a junior musical theatre major with an expressive range of emotions, great comedic timing, and powerful singing voice, is portraying the male lead, Jamie Wallerstein. To match this wonderfully small production, there was a wonderfully small crew, aswell! It included Loren Munoz, a junior technical theatre major and the stage manager for The Last Five Years; Matthew Miller, a sophomore technical theater major and lighting manager and stage hand; and Ben Welchman, a sophmore instrumental music major.Without their excellent help, the show would not be as great as it was.
